In early-2017, we were introduced to Manchester-based producer, Alex Harris, AKA Thugwidow, through our label affiliate, Sangam. He had sent us a folder with dozens of unheard demos which would later be finalized in Thugwidow's debut "Dead Colony". However, during that time, they quietly began a full-on collaborative project which would later become "The Holy City Is Empty".

In 'The Holy City Is Empty', Sangam provides a radical deconstructive atmosphere, while, Thugwidow, intersects it with unnervingly complex breakbeat rhythms and deep cerebral basslines. Distinct in tone and direction and straight to the point, both producers manage to inter-splice their respective styles and detail to sound effortlessly.

I love the fact that vaporwave/dreampunk projects like these have such extremely evocative aesthetics they directly fill your mind with sensations you didn't know you had. You'd maybe think it relies on that solely, but it's coupled with gorgeous musicianship + intense production ideas.
